During his initial term, Donald Trump advocated for a potential ban of the TikTok application. However, his position evolved throughout the 2024 election cycle.

He publicly stated his intention to preserve the app should he be re-elected. This change in approach was reportedly influenced by the positive performance of content related to him and his campaign on the platform.

Impending Supreme Court Decision

Chew’s attendance at the inauguration, coupled with Trump’s apparent support, occurs as TikTok faces a possible shutdown within the U.S. on Sunday.

The Supreme Court is anticipated to deliver a ruling in the coming days regarding legislation that could effectively prohibit TikTok’s operation in the country, with a decision expected on January 19.

Notably, Trump previously requested the court to temporarily halt the enforcement of this law just weeks prior.
