TikTok Now Lets You Save Songs to YouTube Music From Videos

TikTok Integrates YouTube Music for Song Saving
TikTok is streamlining the process for users to transfer songs discovered within videos to their preferred music streaming services. The platform has recently expanded its capabilities by incorporating YouTube Music as a new saving destination.
Initial Rollout and Expansion
This functionality was initially launched in the United States and the United Kingdom in November 2023, supporting Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Further expanding access, TikTok extended this feature to over 160 countries globally in February 2024. Subsequently, Deezer and SoundCloud were also added to the list of supported streaming platforms.
How to Save Songs
Users can now easily save songs by tapping the “Add Song” button, located beneath the video caption and adjacent to the song title. From there, YouTube Music can be selected.
The chosen music service will then be set as the default for saving songs. Alternatively, users can modify their preferred service at any time through the “Music” section within the app’s Settings menu.
Upon saving, the selected track will automatically be added to a dedicated “TikTok Songs” playlist within the user’s YouTube Music account.
Impact on the Music Industry
According to Tracy Gardner, TikTok’s global head of Music Business Development, the “Add to Music App” feature is proving highly effective.
Hundreds of millions of song saves facilitated through TikTok have resulted in billions of streams across various music streaming services, demonstrating a significant positive impact on the music industry.
