Threads Music Integration: Coming Soon?

Meta Explores Music Integration for Threads
Meta is currently developing a feature that would allow users to incorporate music into their posts on Threads, as confirmed by the company to TechCrunch.
This functionality is already present on other Meta platforms, namely Instagram and Facebook. The company is now considering extending this capability to Threads, positioning it as a competitor to X.
Discovery of the Prototype
The feature is not yet available for public testing. It was initially identified by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who routinely uncovers features still in the development phase.
Adding music to posts could enhance user expression and allow individuals to showcase their musical preferences. This evokes a sense of nostalgia for platforms like Myspace.
Potential User Reception
However, the inclusion of music may not be universally appreciated. Some users might find automatically playing music within posts disruptive or distracting.
The timeline for a potential public release remains uncertain, as it is still an internal prototype.
Additional Features Under Development
Threads is also prototyping the ability for users to customize their profiles with display names and cover images. This was reported by TechCrunch last week.
These enhancements aim to align the Threads user experience more closely with those of competing platforms like X and Bluesky.
The addition of these features suggests Meta is actively working to improve Threads and increase its appeal to a wider audience.
