Uber's Reckless Rise: Watch the 'Super Pumped' Trailer

The Uber Story: From Disruptive Startup to Controversy
The ascent of Uber to a position of significant influence was, for many, almost unbelievable. This rise occurred alongside increasingly troubling accounts detailing instances of excessive ambition and questionable practices.
Despite operating in a legally ambiguous space within the taxi industry – and potentially misclassifying a substantial number of its drivers – the company fostered a problematic work environment. This culture reportedly normalized unethical behavior, even including the active deception of law enforcement officials.
While changes are said to have been implemented, the company under its initial CEO, Travis Kalanick, was characterized by a lack of ethical boundaries.
Super Pumped: A Dramatic Retelling
The upcoming series, Super Pumped, is adapted from the book of the same name penned by New York Times journalist Mike Isaac. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Travis Kalanick.
The show will detail Uber’s aggressive expansion and its journey to widespread adoption, alongside the ensuing public criticism and Kalanick’s ultimate resignation.
Kyle Chandler is set to portray venture capitalist Bill Gurley, who served as a key figure in Uber’s funding and development. An intriguing appearance by Uma Thurman as Arianna Huffington is also teased in the promotional trailer.
An Anthology Series Exploring Business Leadership
Super Pumped is conceived as an anthology series, with each season focusing on a different prominent business leader.
The premiere is scheduled for February 27th. Currently, there is no information regarding which companies or CEOs will be the subject of future seasons.
However, given the prevalence of ambitious and often ruthless leadership in the business world, there is no lack of potential subjects for exploration.
