2022 Polestar 2 Range: EPA Estimate of 270 Miles

Polestar 2 Gains New Single-Motor Option and Range Estimate
Polestar, the electric vehicle subsidiary of Volvo, has unveiled a new single-motor version of its Polestar 2 electric sedan as part of its 2022 vehicle offerings. Potential buyers seeking EPA range data can now make informed decisions.
The company confirmed on Wednesday that this variant is projected to achieve approximately 270 miles of range from its 75 kWh battery pack on a single charge.
Range Comparison with Competitors
This range positions the front-wheel drive (FWD) Polestar 2 competitively alongside other electric vehicles.
For example, the Volkswagen ID.4 and Tesla Model 3 offer 249 and 263 miles of range, respectively, in their base configurations.
However, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, priced at $44,875, provides a slightly superior EPA-rated range of 303 miles with a comparable price point.
The Polestar 2 single-motor model starts at $47,200.
Software Updates Enhance Vehicle Functionality
Polestar has also announced the release of an over-the-air (OTA) software update for all Polestar 2 vehicles currently on the road.
This update introduces a scheduled charging feature, enabling drivers to optimize charging times to benefit from lower off-peak electricity rates.
Furthermore, the update incorporates improvements to the vehicle’s existing driver-assist technologies.
Future Performance Upgrades
Looking ahead, Polestar intends to launch another software upgrade in the coming months.
This forthcoming upgrade will allow owners of the dual-motor Polestar 2 to unlock increased torque and horsepower for a fee.
