Tesla iPhone App Redesign: New Widgets & Features

Tesla iOS App Receives Significant Version 4.0 Update

Tesla is deploying a substantial update to its iOS application for smartphones. This new version introduces refined controls, enhanced management features, and visually appealing elements.

Version 4.0 provides users with a selection of two distinct widget sizes for their iPhone home screens. Both widgets display identical data points, including the vehicle’s name, current battery level, location details (or charging status), lock status, a vehicle image, and the timestamp of the last data refresh.

Enhanced Functionality and Features

Previously, Tesla offered an iOS “Today” extension, but it lacked the extensive capabilities now found within the updated widgets. The latest release allows for immediate command transmission to the vehicle upon app launch, eliminating the wait for the car to fully activate.

Improved phone key functionality is also included, enabling users to unlock multiple Tesla vehicles with ease.

Visual and Design Improvements

A newly implemented 3D vehicle rendering provides a more immersive visual experience. New animations have been added during charging and within the climate and control sections of the app.

Tesla has redesigned the charging information display. Charging details are now presented only when the vehicle is actively plugged in. Users can now access their Supercharging history directly through the application.

Streamlined Settings and Security

Settings related to speed limits, valet mode, and sentry mode have been consolidated into a new “Security” category. This section also offers guidance on utilizing Bluetooth connectivity, phone key features, and location services.

This update represents the most significant overhaul of Tesla’s iOS app in some time. Recent development efforts have largely centered on bug resolutions and incremental improvements, with the exception of the Virtual Power Plant enrollment feature introduced in July.
