Taster Secures $37 Million Funding for Online Restaurant Brands

Taster Secures $37 Million in Series B Funding
The French startup Taster has successfully completed a $37 million Series B funding round. Investors include Octopus Venture, Battery Ventures, Latitude (LocalGlobe), HeartCore, Rakuten, GFC, and Founders Future.
Taster distinguishes itself through a unique operational model. The company runs a network of restaurants that are exclusively available through food delivery services.
A Delivery-Only Restaurant Model
Unlike traditional eateries, Taster’s restaurants do not offer dine-in options; reservations are not accepted as there are no physical tables.
Currently, the company concentrates on five distinct street food-inspired concepts. These include Bian Dang (Taiwanese cuisine), A Burgers (plant-based options), Mission Saigon (Vietnamese food), Out Fry (Korean dishes), and Stacksando (Japanese street food).
Expansion and Market Presence
Taster has established a presence in 40 cities, operating numerous kitchens. These kitchens are integrated with popular food delivery platforms like Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
The startup’s vision is to create restaurant chains specifically designed for the modern era.
Focusing on the rapidly growing food delivery sector, Taster has achieved significant traction. In Paris, its restaurants rank as the third-largest group on Deliveroo, surpassing even McDonald’s and Burger King, and fulfilling over 5,000 orders daily.
Partnerships with Existing Restaurants
Building on its success, Taster is now extending its reach through partnerships. The company will collaborate with existing restaurants experiencing low order volumes on platforms like Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Taster will provide these partners with its established brands, curated menus, and proprietary technological tools.
Proprietary App and Platform Integration
Taster has developed its own dedicated mobile application for both Android and iOS devices.
However, the company recognizes the value of existing food ordering platforms and continues to list its restaurants on services like Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Offering a direct ordering channel through its app allows Taster to engage customers directly.
Projected Growth and Revenue
As Taster’s brands gain recognition, restaurants partnering with the company can anticipate substantial revenue increases. Initial projections estimate between €4,000 and €6,000 in revenue during the first week of operation.
By 2025, Taster aims to expand its operations to 1,000 cities through this collaborative partnership model.
