Shrink XP Volume Control - Stupid Geek Tricks

What Constitutes a "Stupid Geek Trick"?

A Stupid Geek Trick is generally defined as a surprising feat performed for someone unfamiliar with technology. These aren't typically complex procedures, but rather lesser-known, enjoyable techniques that tech-savvy individuals often enjoy demonstrating.

Shrinking the Windows XP Volume Control

Today’s trick focuses on a simple manipulation within Windows XP. Specifically, we will demonstrate how to reduce the size of the volume control interface with a single keystroke.

This refers to the volume control that appears when the Volume icon in the system tray is double-clicked.

Activating the Miniaturization

With the volume control dialog box open, simply press the Ctrl+S key combination.

The volume control will then be minimized to a smaller, more compact version.

Pressing Ctrl+S again will restore the control to its original, larger size.

Customizing the Volume Control Interface

Further customization is possible. Unnecessary sliders can be removed to streamline the interface.
