Resolving the "File is Probably Not DOS Format" Error in UltraEdit
Users of UltraEdit, particularly those frequently working with Linux/Unix files, often encounter the recurring "File is probably not DOS format" message upon opening files. This can be a significant source of annoyance.
Fortunately, a straightforward solution exists to circumvent this frustrating notification. Access the Advanced settings via the dropdown menu, then select Configuration.
Navigating to File Handling Options
Within the Configuration dialog box, navigate to the File Handling section. Subsequently, choose DOS/UNIX/MAC Handling from the menu presented on the left.
Disabling UNIX/MAC File Detection
Under the heading of UNIX/MAC file detection/conversion, select the "Disable" option. This action will eliminate the error message.
It’s important to note that disabling this detection will prevent UltraEdit from prompting you to convert files. However, the files themselves will remain preserved in their original format.
By implementing this adjustment, you can enjoy a smoother editing experience without the constant interruption of the "File is probably not DOS format" warning.
