Spotify Launches Mini Golf Game - Happy Gilmore 2 Preview?

Netflix and Spotify Collaborate on a Golf Game
A collaborative effort between Netflix and Spotify has resulted in the launch of a golf-themed game. This initiative is designed to generate excitement for “Happy Gilmore 2,” the sequel to the 1996 Adam Sandler comedy, which will be available on Netflix starting this Friday, July 25th.
A New Direction for Spotify
This partnership marks a novel undertaking for Spotify. The music streaming service has not previously engaged in creating a gaming experience within its application in collaboration with another company.
Spotify has historically focused less on gaming, making this collaboration with a major streaming service particularly noteworthy. It potentially serves as an exploratory venture to gauge consumer interest in such experiences.
Game Development and Features
Spotify confirms the game was developed in conjunction with MiK Studio.
The game, entitled “Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament,” is exclusively accessible through the Spotify app. Players engage by timing taps on their devices to execute a golf swing and complete all three holes.
The game provides a distinctive audio-visual experience. Audio excerpts from the film are played upon completion of each round, alongside a curated playlist of upbeat songs tailored to each user.
Players can also uncover hidden elements, including Happy’s boots, his iconic hockey stick, and even an alligator.
Sharing and Further Engagement
Upon finishing the game, users are directed to the official “Happy Gilmore 2” trailer. They also have the option to share their customized playlist and final score across various social media platforms.
Spotify’s Previous Gaming Venture
While this is Spotify’s first collaborative gaming project, it isn’t their initial foray into gaming. In 2023, Spotify released a hidden game called “Eat This Playlist.”
“Eat This Playlist” was a reimagining of the classic Snake arcade game. Players controlled a snake, navigating to avoid obstacles while growing in length.
