spotify says wrapped 2025 is its biggest yet, with 200m+ users in its first day

Spotify announced that the release of its yearly recap feature, Spotify Wrapped, yesterday represented its most successful launch to date. The streaming platform reported that Wrapped 2025 attracted over 200 million active users within its initial 24-hour period, a 19% increase compared to the previous year’s version which received negative feedback regarding its AI components. The company highlighted that it previously took Wrapped 62 hours to achieve 200 million users.
Active users are defined as individuals who have viewed at least one of the stories presented within the Wrapped experience.
Furthermore, Spotify stated that Wrapped was shared over 500 million times this year, representing a 41% rise from the year before. This figure encompasses shares originating directly from within the application, as well as screenshots and downloaded content.
Specifically, the United States, India, Indonesia, Japan, Colombia, and Thailand were key contributors to these results this year.
Wrapped, Spotify’s widely anticipated annual summary of user listening habits and statistics, encountered challenges last year, as users expressed dissatisfaction with the limited depth of the data provided and the emphasis on an AI-powered podcast rather than more insightful and imaginative data presentations.Spotify addressed this feedback in this year’s Wrapped iteration, incorporating almost a dozen new features and more comprehensive data analysis. While artificial intelligence was utilized internally, the updated Wrapped did not feature a direct AI-driven experience for users.
Instead, Spotify prioritized enabling users to interact with one another by introducing the ability to compare their “listening age,” their Wrapped group affiliation, and, for the first time, a live, multiplayer feature called Wrapped Party, which facilitated real-time data and statistical comparisons.
