A Shift Towards Greater Transparency

This is now evolving with the introduction of a new feature, “Listening stats,” designed to deliver users weekly summaries of their listening activity.

These statistics will highlight your most played artists and songs for each week. Users will have the ability to share these figures across platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.

Sharing is also facilitated directly within the Spotify application through its integrated messaging functionality. Spotify has indicated that these weekly updates will also feature noteworthy events, such as reaching a listening milestone, uncovering new music, or experiencing a moment as a fan.

Enhanced Music Discovery

The statistics section also provides a feature for generating playlists. These playlists are curated based on your existing preferences and suggestions for new music aligned with your listening history.

Accessing your personal listening statistics is straightforward. Simply navigate to your profile picture and select the “Listening stats” tab. This will display your recent listening data, ready for review and sharing.

Availability and Future Plans

The “Listening stats” feature is currently being deployed to both free and premium Spotify users in over 60 countries. Spotify confirms that the annual Wrapped recaps will continue to be released, maintaining a highly anticipated tradition.

While the new weekly statistics may offer a more consistent understanding of listening habits, it could potentially diminish the element of surprise associated with the year-end Wrapped summary.
