SoundCloud & Ticketmaster Partnership: Artists Can Now List Events

SoundCloud Partners with Ticketmaster and Universe for Event Listings
SoundCloud, a prominent music streaming service, has revealed a new collaboration with Ticketmaster and Universe, both properties of Live Nation Entertainment. This partnership empowers musicians to showcase their upcoming performances directly on their SoundCloud profiles with enhanced customization options.
Expanded Promotional Opportunities for Artists
The company indicated that further avenues for artist promotion are planned in conjunction with Ticketmaster, facilitated through a forthcoming program. Specific details regarding this initiative were not disclosed at this time.
Universe Integration for Pro Subscribers
Musicians who subscribe to SoundCloud’s premium Pro plan will gain access to a streamlined ticketing solution. They can utilize the self-service platform, Universe, to list events on their profile pages without navigating away from SoundCloud.
Artists will have the flexibility to add, modify, and curate the events featured on their profile, allowing them to strategically promote their performances.
Data Aggregation from Multiple Sources
SoundCloud will consolidate event information from various ticketing platforms, including Ticketmaster and Dice. This aggregation provides a centralized view of an artist’s upcoming shows.
Following data collection, artists retain control over which events are displayed on their SoundCloud page. Manual addition of links to alternative ticketing services is also supported.
Concert Discovery Widget and Revenue Sharing
To enhance event visibility, SoundCloud will introduce a concert discovery widget on its homepage. This feature will be driven by data from Ticketmaster, enabling users to browse events based on location, time, and musical genre.
SoundCloud will receive a percentage of revenue generated from affiliate ticket sales completed through Ticketmaster links featured on its platform.
Evolution from Previous Integration
Previously, SoundCloud had a limited integration with Resident Advisor, displaying only the three most recent events for select artists. This earlier integration lacked the customization capabilities now offered through the Ticketmaster and Universe partnership.
Growing Trend in Music Streaming
The integration of event display and ticket sales is becoming increasingly common among music streaming platforms. In 2022, Spotify initiated testing of direct ticket sales within its application.
Furthermore, Spotify is reportedly considering a $6 monthly subscription tier designed for dedicated fans, granting them prioritized access to concert tickets, as reported by Bloomberg.
This article has been updated to acknowledge that SoundCloud receives a portion of revenue from Ticketmaster sales.
