SoftBank Announces $100 Billion US Investment - Tech News

SoftBank Pledges $100 Billion U.S. Investment
Masayoshi Son, the CEO of SoftBank, revealed plans on Monday to invest $100 billion within the United States over the coming four years. This announcement was made alongside President-elect Donald Trump.
During a press conference held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, it was stated that SoftBank’s investment is projected to generate at least 100,000 new employment opportunities for American workers.
Trump Hails Investment as "Historic"
President-elect Trump characterized the commitment as a “historic investment.” He emphasized its role in fostering the development of artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and future industries within the USA.
The investment is intended to ensure these sectors are built, created, and expanded domestically.
Building on a Previous Commitment
The relationship between Son and Trump dates back to 2016. It was during Trump’s initial term that Son initially declared a $50 billion investment in U.S. startups, alongside a pledge to create 50,000 jobs.
At the Monday conference, Son explained his decision to increase his 2016 investment. He stated that because “President Trump is a double-down president,” he felt compelled to reciprocate with a doubled commitment.
This signifies a continued confidence in the U.S. economy and a strengthening partnership between SoftBank and the incoming administration.
