Snapchat Year in Review 2023: End-of-Year Recaps Rolled Out

Snapchat's 2025 Year in Review: Recaps and Usage Statistics
Snapchat officially began distributing its annual end-of-year Recaps to users on Monday. These Recaps provide a personalized retrospective of 2025, showcasing key moments from Snaps, Stories, and Chats.
Accessing Your 2025 Snap Recap
To view their individual Recap, users should open the Snapchat application and proceed to the “Memories” section. A dedicated “Your 2025 Snap Recap” card will be prominently displayed.
This feature mirrors similar offerings from other platforms. Companies such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Duolingo have already released their respective year-end summaries.
Snapchat Usage Trends in 2025
Alongside the release of the Recaps, Snapchat also shared data illustrating user activity throughout the past year. The company highlighted a resurgence in the use of phone calls within the app.
Users collectively spent nearly 1.7 billion minutes daily on voice calls, representing an increase of almost 30% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, over five billion voice notes were exchanged by users in the U.S., a rise of nearly 10%.
Group Chats and Reactions
Group chats continue to be a central component of the Snapchat experience. The number of individuals participating in group message exchanges increased by over 5% in 2025.
Some particularly active users sent more than 8,880 messages to their most frequently used group chat throughout the year.
Chat Reactions experienced significant growth, increasing by 44% overall. The heart emoji proved to be the most popular reaction among users.
Additionally, sticker usage for communication rose, with three million more people utilizing stickers this year.
Storage Changes and User Response
The launch of the 2025 Recap occurs amidst some user dissatisfaction regarding Snapchat’s upcoming storage fees. A boycott has been proposed by some to encourage the company to reconsider its plans.
Snapchat announced in September that free access to the “Memories” feature will be capped at 5GB. Users exceeding this limit will be required to subscribe to a new Memories Storage plan.
Memories Storage Plans
The introductory storage option provides 100GB of storage for $1.99 per month. Subscribers to Snapchat+ will receive up to 250GB of storage as part of their $3.99 monthly fee.
Snapchat Platinum members will benefit from 5TB of storage included with their $15.99 monthly subscription.
