Snapchat Launches Tools to Create Bitmoji Games

Snapchat Enhances Lens Studio with New Tools for Bitmoji Game Development
Snap is introducing a suite of new tools within Lens Studio, specifically designed to empower AR creators and developers in the construction of Bitmoji games. This information was shared with TechCrunch on an exclusive basis.
The release includes a comprehensive Bitmoji Suite alongside a fresh collection of assets tailored for game development.
New Capabilities in Lens Studio 5.10
With the launch of Lens Studio 5.10, developers gain access to innovative game assets. These assets facilitate the creation of more dynamic and engaging game Lenses.
A key addition is a turn-based system. This allows for interactive gameplay where users can take turns and respond to challenges within the same game.
Enhanced Character Control and Leaderboards
A new, highly customizable Character Controller has been implemented. It supports a variety of gameplay perspectives, including third-person, first-person, side-scroller, and top-down views.
The leaderboard functionality has also been significantly updated. New templates are available for start and end screens, providing a consistent display of both friend and global scores.
Furthermore, new metrics related to friends, such as “friends who have played,” are now included.
Bitmoji Suite: Personalization and Animation
The Bitmoji Suite introduces tools for enhanced personalization and animation of Bitmoji avatars.
Users can now create custom outfits for their Bitmoji, generate stylized props, and animate them utilizing Snap’s extensive library.
New Bitmoji Game Lenses Available
Snap is also launching a new selection of single-player and turn-based Bitmoji Game Lenses. These Lenses allow users to play games and directly challenge their friends.
The initial offerings include Bitmoji Bistro, Bitmoji Buckets, and Beatmoji Blast.
While numerous game Lenses created by AR developers are already available, this marks the first time Snap has released a dedicated collection of Bitmoji Game Lenses focused on friend-to-friend competition.
Supporting the AR Creator Community
According to a statement provided to TechCrunch, “Lens Studio empowers our vibrant community of over 375,000 AR creators, developers, and teams to seamlessly build and publish Lenses, so we’re excited to give them even more tools to create.”
Snapchat is also offering developers the opportunity to participate in the Bitmojiverse Challenge, with a chance to win cash prizes for utilizing the Bitmoji Suite and Games assets.
