Slack AI Search: Transcriptions & Summaries for Huddles

Slack Enhances Functionality with New AI Integrations
With the increasing integration of artificial intelligence into productivity applications, Slack is significantly improving its search capabilities. New AI-powered features include transcriptions and summaries for Huddles, alongside the ability to receive recaps of both channels and threads.
Expanded Search Capabilities
Leveraging AI technology, Slack now facilitates searches across multiple channels and integrated applications. These connected apps include popular platforms like Google Drive, Salesforce, and Teams, enabling users to quickly locate relevant files and conversations. This enhanced search functionality will be available to subscribers of Slack’s Enterprise plans.
Improvements to Huddles
The company is also utilizing AI to improve Huddles, its voice and video chat feature. Call transcriptions and summaries are now available, and the application will automatically identify and highlight key action items discussed during calls.
To assist users in staying current with ongoing discussions, Slack will provide summaries of messages within a channel or thread, particularly useful for those who have been away.
New Features in Development
Slack announced plans to introduce a feature allowing users to obtain a summary of another user’s profile. This summary will display their role and recent work contributions.
Furthermore, a new feature is being developed for the Activities tab. This will surface action items directly when viewing messages that mention the user.
A feature enabling the use of AI to explain a message within its conversational context is also in progress.
Enhancements to Canvas
For Canvas, the collaborative panel used for sharing guides, documents, and information, an AI-powered writing assistant is planned. This assistant will aid users in creating a Canvas from any conversation or modifying the formatting of existing content.
The application is also undergoing a design update. This will result in a unified space for all shared files, lists, and Canvas items.
Note: This article has been updated to clarify that AI search with integrations is exclusively offered to Slack Enterprise customers.
