AddThis Bookmarklet - Easily Share Webpages

Enhance Webpage Sharing with the AddThis Bookmarklet
Do you often find yourself wanting to share a webpage on a social platform, or save it for later reference, only to discover that the available “Share Options” are severely restricted? Now, expanded sharing capabilities are readily accessible through the AddThis Bookmarklet.
Please be aware that certain websites may prevent the bookmarklet from functioning due to blocked or disabled JavaScript execution, such as the official Google Chrome extensions website.
Limited Sharing Options: A Common Problem
Many webpages present users with a limited selection of sharing platforms. These typically feature only a “chosen few” options. If your preferred service isn’t among them, sharing becomes unnecessarily difficult. Fortunately, this issue is easily resolved…
Consider these examples where sharing options are constrained.

Installing the Bookmarklet
To install the bookmarklet in your browser, simply visit the AddThis homepage and drag the bookmarklet icon to your “Bookmarks Toolbar”. You will then be able to access comprehensive sharing options on any website you visit.

If you require a bookmarklet tailored to a specific social service, you can explore the AddThis bookmarklet library. Click the “View all bookmarklets…” link to view the available options.

Here’s a list of the currently available “individual social service” bookmarklets. Select the bookmarklets you need and drag them to your “Bookmarks Toolbar”.

Using the AddThis Bookmarklet in Practice
As an example, let’s consider an article detailing the release date of MS Office 2010. For those who follow software release schedules, this information is valuable. Observe the “sharing section” located in the lower right corner of the page.

Clicking the “Share This” link reveals that the desired service isn’t listed. This is where our bookmarklet comes into play.

Activating the AddThis Bookmarklet opens a popup window. Gmail isn’t initially displayed, so we clicked the “More… (225)” link.
Note: We relocated our bookmarklet to the “Bookmarks Menu”.

Clicking “More…” presents a comprehensive list of social services. A search bar is also available at the top for quick access to your preferred platform. We easily located Gmail and selected it.

The information is now prepared for sending via email. Only the recipient’s email address needs to be entered. This is a much faster and simpler process than manual sharing.

Sharing at How-To Geek
Remember that you can share any webpage on this site by using the “Share Link” located at the bottom of each article. We provide comprehensive sharing options for your convenience.

Note: AddThis Bookmarklets are compatible with Opera, Firefox, IE 7 and above, Safari, and Chrome. They are not compatible with IE 6, which is no longer recommended for daily browsing.
In Conclusion
If you are frustrated by the limited sharing links on some websites, this bookmarklet is an excellent solution. With just one click, you can share content across all your favorite social services.
