Set Speed Dial as Opera Startup Page - Opera Browser

Configuring Opera to Launch with Speed Dial

A reader, John, recently inquired about configuring Opera to directly open to the Speed Dial page. Following some investigation, a solution was determined and is now being shared.

For those unfamiliar, Opera’s Speed Dial is a highly efficient feature. It displays visual thumbnails of frequently visited websites.

This allows for rapid navigation using either a mouse or keyboard.

Setting the Speed Dial as the Opera Start Page

Begin by accessing the Tools & Preferences menu. Then, modify the Startup dropdown selection to "Start with blank page".

Please note that choosing this option will disable the automatic restoration of tabs from your previous session.

Subsequently, navigate to Advanced settings, then to Tabs, and finally select "Additional tab options".

Ensure the checkbox labeled "Allow window with no tabs" is unchecked.

It may already be deselected by default.

With these adjustments completed, Opera should now launch directly to the Speed Dial page.

This configuration is particularly beneficial for users who primarily utilize Opera for quick information retrieval.
