Locating Addresses with Ease: Introducing Bookmaplet
Encountering an address online without an accompanying map can be frustrating. Fortunately, the Bookmaplet Bookmarklet provides a simple solution to visualize locations directly from your browser.
Installing the Bookmarklet
To obtain and install Bookmaplet, simply visit the website and drag the bookmarklet link onto your “Bookmarks Toolbar”. This action prepares you to quickly access maps and aerial views for any address you discover while browsing.
How Bookmaplet Works
Let's demonstrate Bookmaplet's functionality. As a first example, we will locate Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, WA. When you identify an address, ensure you highlight only the address itself, excluding any surrounding text.
Once the address is highlighted, click the Bookmaplet bookmarklet…
A popup window displaying the map will then appear. Within this window, you’ll find three distinct viewing options…
Please note that resizing the popup window during testing proved unsuccessful.
Here’s a closer view of the standard map, achieved by zooming in…
Alternatively, you can choose to view an aerial image. Simply click the “Satellite” option to see an aerial view…
These views can also be combined to suit your preference.
International Application
For our second test, we explored Google’s offices in Singapore. As before, we carefully highlighted only the address portion before activating Bookmaplet…
The results were quite satisfactory…
After zooming in, a detailed map was readily available.
The aerial photograph wasn’t as crisp in this instance, but remained useful.
The combined view proved particularly helpful, given the density of buildings and the slightly blurred image.
Final Thoughts
If you frequently need to quickly locate addresses found online, the Bookmaplet bookmarklet is a valuable tool to consider. It offers a convenient and efficient way to visualize locations directly within your browsing experience.
