Samsung Unpacked: Google's Circle to Search Gets a Boost

Google Enhances Circle to Search with Expanded AI Capabilities

During Samsung Unpacked 2025 on Wednesday, Google revealed updates to Circle to Search, designed to streamline information retrieval and task completion for users.

Introduced last year, this feature empowers individuals to initiate searches from any screen on their mobile device through intuitive gestures such as circling, highlighting, scribbling, or simply tapping.

Expanding AI Overviews with Visual Search

Google is now broadening the scope of AI Overviews to encompass a wider array of visual search results. This includes locations, popular images, and distinctive objects, all accessible via Circle to Search.

Previously, AI Overviews were available within Circle to Search only when a search combined both images and text. This latest iteration will deliver AI Overviews even without supplementary text or queries.

The rollout of this new functionality is currently underway on all Android devices that support AI Overviews.

Streamlined Task Completion

Google is also simplifying task execution directly from your phone. Circle to Search now identifies numbers, email addresses, and web addresses displayed on your screen.

Users can activate the feature by pressing and holding the home button, then circling or tapping on a phone number, email, or URL to reveal an action chip for immediate interaction.

This enhanced capability is being deployed to all Android devices equipped with Circle to Search.

Circle to Search is becoming an increasingly versatile tool for mobile users.
