Samsung Live Translate at CES 2025: Real-Time Translation for TVs

Samsung Introduces Live Translation to its 2025 TV Lineup
During CES 2025, Samsung revealed plans to extend a well-received functionality from its mobile devices – smartphones and tablets – to its television sets.
Live Translate delivers on its promise, providing viewers with instantaneous translation of live broadcasts. Initially, the system will support seven languages, though the specific languages were not fully detailed at the time of the announcement.
How Live Translate Works
Currently, the feature functions by translating the existing closed captions displayed during a broadcast, rather than directly interpreting the audio. This approach ensures accuracy and accessibility.
Live Translate was initially unveiled in early 2024 alongside the launch of the Galaxy S24 series. The mobile version currently supports 13 languages, representing approximately twice the number available in the initial TV implementation.
Enhanced Accessibility with AI-Powered Features
Samsung is also integrating AI-based Voice Removal with Audio Subtitles, a feature specifically designed to benefit the visually impaired.
This new capability will analyze subtitles, isolate spoken voices, and dynamically adjust the reading speed to create a more fluid and accessible viewing experience.
Availability and Future Compatibility
Both Live Translate and AI-based Voice Removal will be incorporated into Samsung’s 2025 television models.
As of now, there has been no indication regarding potential backward compatibility with older Samsung TV sets.
Further details regarding Samsung’s innovations at CES 2025 can be found by viewing the company’s press conference, scheduled for 2 p.m. PT on Monday.
