Easy Thumbnails - Resize Photos Online
A Review of Easy Thumbnails: A Photo Resizing Solution
If you are seeking a reliable application for generating resized versions of your images, Easy Thumbnails warrants careful consideration.
Installation and Initial Interface
The installation process is both swift and straightforward. During the final stage, users are presented with the option to integrate a “Make Thumbnail” shortcut directly into Windows Explorer for enhanced convenience.
Upon completing the installation and launching Easy Thumbnails, users are greeted with a clean interface. Notably, the software eschews complex menus and options, consolidating all essential functionalities within the readily accessible Original Image and Preview Output tabs.
Navigating the Software
The Files Tab serves as the central hub for locating and selecting the images you intend to process. Furthermore, this tab allows you to designate an alternative save location for the newly created thumbnails, independent of the original files’ directory.
Configuring Image Settings
The Settings Tab is where you define the dimensions of the resized images. Here, you’ll find dropdown menus, JPEG quality controls, photo correction tools, and the capability to rotate images as needed.
Additional Information
The About Tab provides fundamental program details, access to Help Files, and a direct link to the developer’s website. The News Tab delivers updates regarding Fookes Software.
Detailed Settings Breakdown
Let's examine the dropdown menus within the Settings Tab in greater detail.
The Resize Menu offers several options: “No Resize”, “Best Fit”, “Shrink To Fit”, “Enlarge To Fit”, and “Stretch To Fit”.
The Algorithm Menu presents a diverse selection of algorithms; choose the one that best aligns with your specific requirements.
The New Name Menu allows you to customize the naming convention for your newly generated images. Options include “Auto Detect”, “Add Nothing”, “Add Prefix”, “Add Suffix”, and “Rename”.
Important Note: To prevent accidental overwriting of your original files, it is strongly recommended to employ a suffix, prefix, or renaming scheme.
Putting Easy Thumbnails to the Test
To demonstrate its functionality, we selected a large anime image as our test subject. The file name, image dimensions in pixels, and file size are all displayed in the Title Bar. Selecting the file displays it within the Original Image Tab.
Switching to the Settings Tab, we inputted our desired dimensions for the resized image. The Preview Output Tab then showcased a smaller preview of the original image.
Remember: You will need to manually calculate the appropriate new size for your images.
Clicking the “Make” button initiates the resizing process. Upon completion, a message window confirms the successful creation of the thumbnail.
For batch processing of identically sized photos, the “Make All” button streamlines the operation.
Verification on the Desktop revealed that the newly resized image was successfully created and readily available.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, Easy Thumbnails is a dependable and effective photo resizing program. It represents a valuable addition to any photographer’s or image editor’s toolkit.
