Changing Reply Positioning in Thunderbird
Thunderbird, by default, positions the original message text above the composition area when responding to an email. This arrangement isn't preferred by all users.
The following instructions detail how to modify this setting so that your reply appears below the original message, mirroring a more conventional email layout.
Accessing Account Settings
To begin, navigate to the Tools menu and select Account Settings. This will open the configuration panel for your email accounts.
Adjusting Composition and Addressing Options
Within Account Settings, select the Composition and Addressing option. This section controls how Thunderbird handles message composition and related settings.
Locate the dropdown menu controlling reply positioning. Change its value to "Start my reply below the quote".
Signature Placement
While in the Composition and Addressing settings, you can also configure the placement of your signature within the email message.
Once you have made your selections, click OK to save the changes. Return to an original email message to observe the updated reply behavior.
Confirmation
The modification is now complete. You should find the new reply positioning more intuitive and aligned with common email practices.
This adjustment provides a more familiar and comfortable experience when managing email correspondence within Thunderbird.
