Lyn’s Interface and Viewing Options

Although Lyn doesn’t offer a one-click import function for cameras, accessing and dragging-and-dropping files remains a simple process. This allows for quick transfer of your photos into the application.

Once a photo is open, various options become available, including zooming, adjusting the image size, rotating, and viewing it in full-screen mode.

Organization and Finder Integration

Lyn truly excels in its organizational layout. A clear menu of directories and folders facilitates effortless dragging and dropping of images between locations.

Unlike iPhoto, Lyn provides complete control over photo organization within your folders. Crucially, any modifications made in Lyn are immediately reflected in the Finder.

Users can create new folders, move, and delete images efficiently from a single screen, eliminating the need to constantly switch between Finder windows. Locating images within the Finder is also simplified through Lyn’s integrated functionality.

While image deletion is possible using the CMD-Delete shortcut, folder deletion must be performed within the Finder. This is a minor limitation. Additionally, Lyn displays all files within a folder, not just images.

Supported Formats and Additional Features

Lyn supports a broad range of image formats, including JPEG, TIFF, PNG, animated GIF, and Raw. The application also enables the creation of visually appealing full-screen slideshows.

The application’s preferences primarily focus on image display and opening behavior, as well as the overall appearance of the app’s fonts and colors.

Lyn was in public beta until December 1, 2010, offering a limited-time opportunity for download.
