Reorganize Taskbar & Tray Icons - XP/Vista
Enhancing Taskbar Organization with Taskbar Shuffle
Many users find the inability to rearrange taskbar buttons frustrating, whether for screenshot purposes or simply to arrange frequently used applications side-by-side. Fortunately, a small application called Taskbar Shuffle provides a solution, offering enhanced control over the taskbar layout.
After installation, rearranging the order of taskbar buttons becomes remarkably simple. Users can directly drag and drop icons to their desired positions.
Reorganizing Tray Icons
The functionality extends beyond application buttons. Holding the Ctrl key allows for the reorganization of icons within the system tray. For example, the Outlook icon can be repositioned as needed.
As demonstrated, the Outlook icon has been moved to the right side of the tray.
Grouping Tasks Without Collapsing
The Taskbar Shuffle settings offer a unique feature: the ability to group tasks without collapsing them into a single button. This provides a different visual organization compared to the standard grouping behavior.
Instead of the typical consolidated button, the grouped tasks remain individually visible.
To enable this functionality, access the Settings dialog and select the option to "group tasks but never collapse into one button".
Additional Features
Taskbar Shuffle also introduces the ability to close windows with a middle mouse click, mirroring the functionality of a web browser's tab bar. This provides an alternative method for window management.
This utility doesn't require constant operation. It can be launched when taskbar reorganization is needed and then closed afterward, conserving system resources.
Download Taskbar Shuffle to gain greater control over your taskbar layout.
