Reddit Down: Outage Affects Users Globally

Reddit Experiences Widespread Outage on Monday
A significant disruption affected the popular social media platform and forum, Reddit, on Monday morning, resulting in widespread service interruptions.
Reports of connectivity issues began surfacing around 11:20 a.m. Eastern Time, as indicated by Downdetector, a platform that compiles user-submitted outage reports from around the world.
The number of reported problems peaked with over 90,000 users registering outage reports with the downtime monitoring service.
Confirmation and Resolution
Reddit Status, the official system for reporting incidents, acknowledged the investigation of “elevated errors” impacting both the website and mobile application at 11:52 a.m. ET.
Shortly thereafter, the company announced the identification of the root cause. By 12:10 p.m. ET, a solution was deployed, and the team began monitoring its effectiveness.
Full service restoration was confirmed by Reddit Status at 12:21 p.m. ET, indicating all systems were functioning normally.
Cause of the Disruption
A Reddit spokesperson explained that a temporary inability to connect to one of its databases was the source of the outage. A rapid fix was implemented, and the platform is now fully operational.
Reddit has previously experienced similar “elevated errors” incidents on three occasions in February, as well as recently, according to its official status page.
This is an ongoing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
