Reddit Adds Second Black Board Member in 2024

Reddit has added Paula Price to its board of directors. Price brings with her extensive experience, having previously served on the boards of six publicly traded companies, notably including Accenture and Deutsche Bank. This appointment results in Price becoming one of two Black individuals serving as directors within the company.
“We are confident that Paula’s substantial background as a leading global financial executive and strategic consultant will be incredibly valuable to our organization in the coming years,” stated Reddit CEO Steve Huffman. “Importantly, she possesses the two key attributes we sought for this Board position: a proven track record of guiding businesses through significant periods of expansion and a genuine commitment to Reddit’s core principles.”
Prior to Alexis Ohanian, a Reddit co-founder, resigning from the board and advocating for the appointment of a Black director to succeed him, Reddit’s board included no Black members. Acting on Ohanian’s recommendation, the company then appointed Michael Seibel, the CEO of Y Combinator, as a director.
Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable trend of increased representation of Black individuals on the boards of technology companies. Recently, Pinterest announced its first Black board member in August, and subsequently added a second in October.
