The following process demonstrates a method for improving the sharpness of blurry photographs, utilizing Photoshop as the primary software. However, the techniques described are readily adaptable for use in GIMP, though menu options and keyboard shortcuts may differ.

Begin by creating a duplicate of your image’s background layer. All subsequent adjustments will largely be performed on this duplicated layer, ensuring the original image remains untouched.


Converting to Lab Color
To proceed, navigate to Image > Mode > Lab Color and select this option. This color mode is crucial for targeted sharpening.

If the "Channels" panel is not currently visible, access it through Window > Channels. Subsequently, select only the "Lightness" channel. The image will transition to grayscale; this is an expected outcome.
