For those not utilizing the Tab Mix Plus extension, disabling these buttons is readily achievable. Begin by typing “about:config” into the address bar and pressing Enter. Then, utilize the filter function to search for the following preference:
browser.tabs.closebuttons
Three distinct values are available for this setting:
- Default
- No close tab buttons are displayed anywhere, requiring the use of middle-click or Ctrl+W for tab closure.
- The close tab button is relocated to the right side of the tab bar.
Setting the value to 3, as demonstrated, results in a single close button appearing on the right side of the tab bar.
