provizio closes $6.2m seed round for its car safety platform using sensors and ai

Provizio, an innovative company developing both hardware and software solutions to enhance vehicle safety, has successfully completed a seed funding round, securing $6.2 million in investment. This funding round saw participation from Bobby Hambrick, who established Autonomous Stuff, the original team behind Movidius, the European Innovation Council (EIC), and ACT Venture Capital.
The company has developed a unique “five-dimensional” sensing system designed to identify, anticipate, and avoid vehicle accidents in real time, even when visibility is limited. Provizio’s “Accident Prevention Technology Platform” integrates custom-built vision sensors, machine learning algorithms, and radar technology, offering extended range and predictive abilities to help prevent crashes at high speeds and in challenging weather conditions, according to the company. The Provizio team comprises specialists in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and the development of vision and radar sensors.
Barry Lunn, Chief Executive Officer of Provizio, stated: “Our commitment to reducing road fatalities – aiming for 1.35 deaths to zero – is the core principle guiding all our efforts at Provizio. We’ve assembled a highly skilled and expanding team. Artificial intelligence represents the future of preventing automotive accidents, and Provizio’s 5D radars, coupled with edge-based AI processing, mark a significant initial advancement toward achieving this vision.”
Dr. Scott Thayer and Professor Jeff Mishler, previously associated with Carnegie Mellon’s robotics program and known for their pioneering work on autonomous technologies for companies like Google / Waymo, Argo, Aurora, and Uber, are also contributing to Provizio’s development.
