president trump responds to twitter account ban in tweet storm from @potus account

Following Twitter’s decision on Friday to permanently suspend President Trump’s personal account, @realdonaldtrump, the President attempted to communicate through his official government account, @POTUS. While possessing significantly fewer followers, this account still provided a channel for the President to issue a few final messages on the platform.
Twitter promptly removed these tweets, as its policies prohibit banned users from circumventing suspensions by utilizing alternative accounts.
According to screenshots obtained by TechCrunch, Trump responded to the account ban by alleging a conspiracy between Twitter personnel and his political adversaries. He stated, “As I have long maintained, Twitter has increasingly restricted free expression, and tonight, Twitter staff collaborated with Democrats and the Radical Left to remove my account from their service, in an effort to silence me — and YOU, the 75,000,000 patriotic Americans who voted for me.”

The President also indicated his intention to join an alternative platform or establish his own. Speculation arose that Trump would join the right-leaning social media site Parler; however, the platform was subsequently removed from the Google Play Store, with Apple reportedly threatening a similar suspension.
Further messages from the @POTUS account stated, “We have been in discussions with a number of other sites, and will have a significant announcement shortly, while we also explore the possibility of developing our own platform in the coming months.”
These same statements were then shared from the President’s @Teamtrump campaign account, which Twitter later suspended.
A Twitter spokesperson communicated to TechCrunch, “As previously stated, attempting to evade a suspension by using another account violates our policies. We have taken appropriate action regarding recent tweets from the @POTUS account. While we will not permanently suspend government accounts like @POTUS and @WhiteHouse, we will implement measures to restrict their functionality.”
