Podcastle Raises $7M to Revolutionize Podcast Creation

Podcastle Secures $7 Million Funding to Enhance All-in-One Podcast Creation
Anchor and Descript have established themselves as leading podcast creation platforms. However, Podcastle is rapidly gaining recognition as a comprehensive solution, integrating recording, production, and publishing into a single platform.
Recent Funding and Market Position
The company recently completed a $7 million early-stage funding round. This was co-led by RTP Global and Point Nine Capital, with participation from S16 VC, Sierra Ventures, and AI Fund, as well as previous investors.
Podcastle is capitalizing on the expanding creator economy, currently estimated at approximately $104.2 billion. There are now at least 2 million podcasts available.
Key Features and Capabilities
Currently, Podcastle boasts a user base of around 150,000 creators, a number that is growing quickly. The platform provides user-friendly tools for podcasting.
- Enables studio-quality remote interviews utilizing standard consumer microphones.
- Offers multitrack recording and editing functionalities.
- Provides the ability to isolate and enhance speech within podcasts.
- Facilitates both text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversion.
These features allow creators to edit audio with the same ease as editing text documents.
Vision and Differentiation
Artavazd Yeritsyan, founder and CEO of Podcastle and formerly VP of Engineering at Picsart, stated that average daily listening time is projected to reach 1 hour and 37 minutes in 2022. This signifies the growing influence of podcasting as a storytelling medium.
Podcastle’s aim is to eliminate technical obstacles, empowering creators to concentrate on content creation and sharing. Yeritsyan positions Podcastle as a “creation” platform, distinct from editing-focused tools like Descript.
He draws a comparison to software ecosystems, stating, “It’s like comparing Microsoft Doc with Google Docs. Or Sketch versus Figma. In those cases, we are Google Docs and Figma.”
Investor Perspectives
Alexander Pavlov, managing partner at RTP Global, noted the podcasting market’s value of $11.46 billion in 2020. He believes Podcastle delivers a unified solution for both aspiring and established podcast hosts and creators.
Louis Coppey, partner at Point Nine Capital, highlighted Podcastle’s role in democratizing audio content production. Point Nine has previously invested in creative software companies like PlayPlay, GravitySketch, and Shapr3D.
Pricing and Accessibility
Podcastle offers four distinct pricing tiers, with its core features available at no cost.
