Tame Raises $5.5M Seed Round for Virtual Event Platform

Tame Secures $5.5 Million Seed Funding for Virtual Events Platform
Originally focused on supporting offline corporate events with a digital suite, Tame underwent a significant strategic shift in March 2020. The onset of the pandemic prompted the company to concentrate its efforts on developing a highly adaptable virtual events platform.
This platform is primarily utilized by businesses to host their sales-focused events. Consequently, Tame has successfully secured $5.5 million in seed funding.
Investment Details and Expansion Plans
This substantial seed round, notably large for the Danish market, was spearheaded by VF Venture (The Danish Growth Fund). Additional investment came from byFounders, and prominent angel investors.
These investors include Mikkel Lomholt, the CTO and co-founder of Planday; Sune Alstrup, former CEO and co-founder of The Eye Tribe; and Ulrik Lehrskov Schmidt.
The newly acquired capital will be allocated to several key areas. These include scaling the team from 20 to 60 employees across locations in Copenhagen, London, and Krakow.
Furthermore, Tame intends to expand its operations into the U.K. market and accelerate revenue growth.
Remarkable Organic Growth
According to Jasenko Hadzic, CEO and co-founder of Tame, the transition to a virtual event model resulted in a remarkable 700% increase in revenue last year.
This growth was achieved organically, without relying on dedicated sales or marketing initiatives. Hadzic believes this demonstrates a significant market opportunity, leading Tame to pursue aggressive expansion to establish itself as a leading provider.
VF Venture's Perspective
Jacob Bratting Pedersen, a partner at VF Venture, emphasized the firm’s commitment to fostering innovation. He stated that the pandemic has accelerated digital adoption.
Pedersen believes Danish IT companies are well-positioned to capitalize on this momentum and showcase Danish technology globally. He highlighted Tame as a prime example of this potential.
“Tame possesses considerable potential to build a robust, global enterprise, contributing to economic growth and job creation within Denmark,” Pedersen added.
Founder's Journey
Jasenko Hadzic’s personal story is also noteworthy. He transitioned into the technology sector after arriving in Denmark as a child refugee from Bosnia during the Yugoslavian civil war.
Differentiating from Competitors
Hadzic clarified that Tame’s strategy differs from companies like Hopin. The company is deliberately focusing on serving enterprise clients.
“Our focus is on marketing and HR departments within larger organizations, rather than pursuing customers such as TechCrunch Disrupt or large-scale trade shows,” Hadzic explained.
