PayPal Adds Hotel Booking Feature - Powered by Selfbook

PayPal Integrates Hotel Booking Through Selfbook Partnership
PayPal is establishing a collaboration with Selfbook, a specialized hotel payment provider, to facilitate hotel searches and bookings directly within the PayPal application.
This partnership will enable users to complete payments utilizing PayPal at the point of sale and gain access to exclusive discounts offered specifically to app users.
Enhanced Payment Options
Select hotels will also offer the option for users to leverage PayPal’s Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service for eligible bookings.
Within the PayPal app, users can navigate to the Offers section to initiate hotel searches.
An in-app browser allows filtering by criteria such as travel dates and the number of guests.
Selfbook’s Role and Availability
Hotels utilizing Selfbook’s payment solutions will be visible to PayPal users.
However, the extent to which Selfbook is making its complete hotel catalog available through PayPal remains unspecified.
Strategic Move for PayPal
This integration represents a strategic effort by PayPal to promote additional services to its user base within the app environment.
The company reports an 84% increase in online travel payments among users of its payment products.
“We’re excited to go big in travel with Selfbook and help PayPal customers discover new merchants and save money through unique rewards and discounts,” stated Alex Chriss, President and CEO of PayPal.
Expanding Integration and Future Plans
PayPal also announced that Selfbook will soon incorporate PayPal’s payment checkout products into its broader operational workflow, extending beyond the app.
Furthermore, Selfbook will utilize PayPal’s enterprise payment suite to process credit card transactions for its affiliated hotels.
Selfbook’s Broader Partnerships
Selfbook is also currently partnering with Perplexity, integrating PayPal as a payment solution within Perplexity’s hotel discovery and booking feature, launched in March.
Streamlining the Hotel Payment Process
“Paying for a hotel has traditionally been the most fragmented part of travel—search one place, book another, pay somewhere else,” explained Khalid Meniri, co-founder and CEO of Selfbook.
“With PayPal, we’re collapsing all of that into a single flow embedded directly into AI-powered experiences like Perplexity.
This not only enhances convenience for travelers but also provides hotels with a direct connection to their customers, improved profitability through commission-free transactions, and greater control over their brand identity,” Meniri added.
