Telegram Achieves Profitability, Surpasses $1 Billion in Revenue
Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, announced on Monday that the messaging platform has reached a state of profitability.
According to Durov, Telegram’s total revenue exceeded $1 billion during the year 2024.
Growth of Telegram’s Premium Subscription
The company introduced its premium subscription service in 2022, and it has since attracted a substantial user base.
Currently, Telegram boasts 12 million subscribers who are paying for the premium features.
Strong Financial Position
Durov further stated that the application is concluding the year with cash reserves exceeding $500 million.
This figure does not include the value of the company’s cryptocurrency holdings.
Debt Repayment
The CEO of Telegram also revealed that a considerable portion of the company’s debt has been settled this autumn.
“Telegram has issued approximately $2 billion in debt over the last four years,” Durov explained in a post on X. “We capitalized on advantageous bond prices to repay a significant amount this Fall, though substantial work remains.”
Future Plans and IPO
Earlier in the year, Durov shared with the Financial Times that the company anticipated achieving profitability in 2025.
He also indicated a future intention to pursue an initial public offering (IPO).
Expansion of Features and Revenue Streams
Telegram, serving over 950 million monthly active users, has been actively expanding its offerings.
