Panda Express Expands Beyond Meat Orange Chicken Availability

Following a successful trial run, Panda Express has announced a significant expansion of its plant-based menu. Beyond Meat-based orange chicken will now be offered at 70 locations throughout the United States.

Initial Launch and Guest Response

The plant-based entrée was first tested in select areas of New York City and Southern California. The response from customers was remarkably positive, prompting the wider rollout.

According to Jimmy Wang, Panda Express’ Executive Director of Culinary Innovation, the initial launch saw over 1,300 pounds of Beyond The Original Orange Chicken prepared on the first day alone.

This launch represents one of Panda Express’ most successful regional introductions, demonstrating a clear demand for more plant-based choices among its clientele.

Expanding Plant-Based Options

This collaboration with Beyond Meat allows the America Chinese fast-food chain to broaden its existing non-meat offerings. Current vegetarian options include eggplant tofu, super greens, chow mein, and vegetable spring rolls.

The company also highlights brown and white rice as vegetarian-friendly items, indicating ongoing efforts to diversify its plant-based menu.

Industry Trend Towards Meat Alternatives

The availability of meat alternatives is increasingly viewed favorably. Beyond Meat currently partners with several major food chains, including Pizza Hut, KFC, Denny’s, and Dunkin’.

This expansion brings the meatless orange chicken to additional locations, and it is available for purchase starting today.

The addition of this item provides consumers with another option for reducing meat consumption.
