Pact Massage Gun - Feel Better, Recover Faster

The Rise of Data-Driven Muscle Recovery: Introducing Pact
Numerous devices currently available aim to provide deep-tissue muscle relief, often surpassing the raw power and stamina of a human massage therapist. However, a skilled therapist retains a crucial advantage: the ability to assess muscle condition through tactile feedback.
Impact Biosystems Launches Pact with Integrated Muscle Scanning
Impact Biosystems is now accepting preorders for its Pact system. While possessing the percussive capabilities of competing devices, Pact distinguishes itself through a more holistic approach to muscle recovery, seeking to replicate the nuanced assessment of a professional massage.
The core innovation lies in the Pact Scan, a companion device designed to emulate the diagnostic touch of a therapist using advanced technology. This system moves beyond simple vibration and aims for personalized treatment.
How Pact Scan Works: Quantifying Muscle Readiness
“Our system actively measures muscle properties and adjusts treatment accordingly, in real time,” explains Bridget Hunter-Jones, co-founder and CEO of Impact Biosystems. “Pact Scan analyzes muscles in under five seconds, quantifying their state.
Every level of muscle stiffness exhibits a unique natural frequency damping ratio. We utilize these parameters – termed ‘muscle readiness’ – to provide a score indicating a muscle’s preparedness for activity or the adequacy of its warm-up.”
Personalized Recovery: Moving Beyond One-Size-Fits-All Solutions
“Current muscle recovery solutions largely offer standardized treatments,” Hunter-Jones states. “Recognizing that recovery needs are individual, we’ve designed Pact to be data-driven and personalized, eliminating guesswork through body-sourced information.”
Pricing and Competitive Landscape
Impact Biosystems’ products are positioned at a higher price point than premium competitors, with Therabody’s Theragun Elite starting at $399. The company believes its data-centric approach will attract customers seeking a more informed recovery experience.
They assert that no direct competitors currently exist, with comparable medical devices costing significantly more – upwards of $6,000 – and primarily serving academic and research applications.

“This device represents the first of its kind in collecting data in this specific manner,” Hunter-Jones clarifies. “Existing medical devices are considerably more expensive and do not employ the same core technologies or algorithms.
These devices are typically used for assessing sarcopenia and tracking muscle mass, while our system aims to replicate the therapist’s process of comparing a patient’s muscles to a vast experiential database.”
A Novel Approach to Muscle Assessment
Surprisingly, the Pact Scan doesn’t rely on electrical measurements. Instead, it utilizes a gentle, integrated mallet to tap muscles and meticulously measures their response.
Targeting a Broader Audience
“We are eager to introduce this to individuals who may find other brands intimidating,” says Hunter-Jones. “We’ve prioritized creating a brand that is approachable, comfortable, and avoids a hyper-masculine aesthetic.
We’re particularly excited to reach casual athletes, Pilates enthusiasts, yoga instructors, and others who require targeted recovery without aggressive treatment.”
Availability and Pricing Details
The company is offering two launch kits: the Pact Sport Kit at $499 and the Pact Pro Kit at $649, which includes an additional battery handle and a travel case. Shipping is scheduled to begin in May 2022.
