OurCrowd, an Israeli venture platform, has announced a $25 million convertible equity investment from SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2. This funding round also establishes a strategic alliance between OurCrowd and SoftBank Investment Advisers (SBIA).

Strategic Partnership and Investment Focus

The partnership will center on evaluating potential investment prospects through OurCrowd’s online venture capital platform. Joint assessments of prevailing market dynamics will also be conducted.

Particular attention will be given to startups engaged in fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, mobility solutions, agricultural technology, cybersecurity, and health technology.

Statements from Leadership

“This investment by Softbank in OurCrowd is poised to generate significant reciprocal benefits as we collaborate to advance innovation within the venture capital landscape,” stated Jon Medved, CEO of OurCrowd.

Medved further emphasized the value of partnering with SoftBank, highlighting their renowned support for portfolio companies and entrepreneurs.

Growth of the OurCrowd Platform

Currently, the OurCrowd platform supports a community of approximately 140,000 accredited investors.

The platform experienced 25,000 new registrations in 2020, a figure that has already been exceeded with over 75,000 new registrations in 2021.

OurCrowd anticipates exceeding $500 million in new investments this year.

Use of Funds and Investment Portfolio

The newly acquired funding will be allocated towards expanding the platform’s reach, growing its investor base, and streamlining the process of identifying promising startups for inclusion.

To date, OurCrowd has invested in roughly 280 companies across its 30 funds.

Notable successful exits from the firm’s portfolio include Lemonade, Beyond Meat, Jump, Kenna, Argus, and Wave.
