Oracle Pursues $15 Billion Funding Round

Recent reports indicate that Oracle is seeking to secure additional capital. This development occurs shortly after the company finalized a significant agreement concerning AI infrastructure with OpenAI.

Bond Sales to Generate Capital

According to sources cited by Bloomberg, the cloud infrastructure leader, Oracle, intends to raise $15 billion through the issuance of corporate bonds. The potential sale may be divided into as many as seven tranches.

Bloomberg’s reporting suggests that one portion of the bond offering could be a relatively uncommon 40-year bond.

Follows Major OpenAI Deal

This news arrives only weeks following reports of Oracle entering into a substantial agreement with OpenAI. The deal will see Oracle providing $300 billion in compute resources to the AI research organization.

Immediately after the announcement, questions arose regarding the financial arrangements for such a large-scale undertaking.

Potential Meta Partnership

Furthermore, Oracle is reportedly engaged in discussions with Meta regarding a potential $20 billion compute deal.

Leadership Transition

On Monday, Oracle announced a change in leadership. Safra Catz is stepping down from her role as CEO.

Catz will assume the position of executive vice chair of Oracle’s board of directors, following eleven years as CEO.

She will be succeeded by co-CEOs Clay Magouyrk and Mike Sicilia.

The transition marks a new chapter for the technology company as it navigates these significant financial and partnership opportunities.
