OpenAI announced on Friday the expansion of its Operator AI agent to a wider international audience.

The rollout includes ChatGPT Pro subscribers located in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, among other regions.

Geographic Restrictions

While broadly available, Operator is not yet accessible in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

This phased release allows OpenAI to carefully monitor performance and address potential issues before a full global launch.

Functionality and Capabilities

Launched initially in the U.S. in January, Operator represents a growing trend in “AI agent” technology.

These agents are designed to autonomously execute tasks based on user instructions, such as securing event tickets, arranging dining reservations, processing expense claims, and facilitating online shopping.

Currently, access to Operator is exclusive to those enrolled in the $200 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription tier.

Users interact with the agent through a dedicated web interface, though OpenAI intends to integrate Operator across all ChatGPT platforms in the future.
