ChatGPT Plus: OpenAI Launches Deep Research Tools

OpenAI Expands Access to its Deep Research Tool
On Tuesday, OpenAI declared the wider release of its deep research capability, a web browsing agent designed for generating comprehensive research reports, to all ChatGPT subscribers who are paying customers.
This expanded access means users with ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscriptions will now receive 10 deep research queries each month.
Previous Access and Increased Limits
Previously, OpenAI’s deep research feature was exclusive to ChatGPT Pro users, a premium tier costing $200 per month. These users are now allocated 120 deep research queries monthly, an increase from the initial 100 provided at launch.
Competition in the AI Research Space
The move by OpenAI places them in direct competition with Google and Perplexity, all of whom are striving to deliver similar deep research products to a broader user base.
Notably, these competing tools share a comparable name and function by producing extensive reports.
Google initiated the rollout of its own deep research agent to all Gemini Advanced users just last week.
The Value Proposition of AI Subscriptions
Technology firms are anticipating that deep research tools will demonstrate the worth of their more expensive AI subscription services to consumers.
OpenAI acknowledges the necessity for further evaluation regarding the potential applications of these agents, particularly concerning their use in influencing opinions.
Further testing is required to fully understand how these tools might be leveraged for persuasive purposes.
