Virtual CloneDrive: Mount ISO Images Easily

Mounting Multiple ISO Images with Virtual CloneDrive

Previously, the process of mounting an ISO image in Windows Vista using Virtual CloneDrive was detailed. This article expands on that information, demonstrating how to mount several ISO files simultaneously.

The primary advantage of this application lies in its ease of use. Mounting an ISO is as straightforward as a double-click.

Adding Additional Virtual Drives

To increase the number of available virtual drives, navigate to the Start Menu and launch Virtual CloneDrive. Within the application, locate the dropdown menu controlling the drive count.

Adjust this dropdown to reflect the desired number of virtual drives. Keep in mind that double-clicking an ISO file will consistently mount it to the first available virtual drive.

For mounting specific ISO images to designated virtual drives, open My Computer. Right-click on the target virtual drive to access a context menu.

From this menu, select Virtual CloneDrive, then choose the "Mount" option.

A file selection dialog will appear, prompting you to specify the path to the ISO image you wish to mount.

Unmounting Virtual Drives

The process for unmounting a drive mirrors the mounting procedure. Access the Virtual CloneDrive option from the drive's context menu in My Computer.

Instead of "Mount," select the "Unmount" option to release the ISO image from the virtual drive.

Important Note: This software is not compatible with the 64-bit edition of Windows Vista.
