Mosqitter: A Novel Approach to Mosquito Control

Following a recent look at another mosquito control solution, it’s important to showcase innovative technologies presented at CES this year. Mosqitter represents an industrial-level system designed to significantly reduce mosquito populations by targeting females before they reproduce.

How Mosqitter Attracts and Eliminates Mosquitoes

The company highlights that mosquitoes are drawn to four key stimuli before seeking a blood meal: carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted from breathing, body heat, a specific wavelength of ultraviolet (UV) light given off by mammals, and human scent.

Mosqitter’s technology replicates all four of these attractants, cycling through them to maximize effectiveness. The device is engineered for operation in diverse weather conditions.

Remote control is facilitated through a dedicated mobile application, and continuous 24/7 operation is possible with the addition of optional solar panels.

A Non-Toxic Mosquito Elimination Method

Once mosquitoes are lured into the device, they are eliminated without the use of any chemical pesticides or poisons.

According to Olga Diachuk, the company’s COO, “Mosqitter mimics a living being, attracting female mosquitoes and drawing them into the device.” She notes that results are often visible within the first day of operation.

The machine doesn’t instantly kill the insects; instead, it utilizes a net to trap them, leading to death through starvation and dehydration. Disruption of the mosquito breeding cycle is typically observed within two to three weeks, resulting in a mosquito-free area.

Company Growth and Market Expansion

Mosqitter initiated sales in 2020 and reports having sold over 250 units to date. The company intends to expand manufacturing operations in regions with the greatest need, including Italy, India, and Zimbabwe.

Remarkably, this progress has been achieved with limited financial resources. Founded in 2019, the company has been funded by $85,000 in grants from the Ukrainian Startup Fund and CRDF Global, alongside a $100,000 angel investment, supplemented by revenue from product sales.

Product Versions and Pricing

Currently, Mosqitter offers three distinct product versions to cater to varying needs:

  • Home Use: $950
  • Business Use: $1,150
  • Large-Scale: $2,100 (designed for parks, municipalities, and expansive areas)
