Mojo Raises $4.4M Seed Funding for Men's Sexual Health Therapy

Addressing Male Sexual Wellness: A New Approach
In recent years, a growing number of startups have emerged focusing on men's sexual health, aiming to provide discreet assistance with issues like erectile dysfunction. Companies such as Numan and Roman are prominent examples.
However, the typical solution offered by these services often centers around facilitating easier access to medications like Viagra.
Mojo: A Different Perspective
U.K.-based Mojo is differentiating itself by adopting a distinct strategy. It provides a subscription-based service designed to enhance men’s overall sexual well-being.
This is achieved through readily available access to specialized therapies, collaborating with qualified psychosexual therapists to deliver online courses.
These courses are presented as a more enduring solution to male sexual health concerns, contrasting with the immediate, but potentially temporary, effects of medication.
The Rise of Digital Health Support
Mojo’s approach aligns with a broader trend in digital health. Smartphones are increasingly utilized by app developers to deliver focused, non-pharmacological support.
This support extends to various areas, including sleep disorders, dietary management, musculoskeletal conditions, mental health, and, crucially, sexual wellness.
Dedicated applications catering specifically to women’s health also fall within this category.
Challenging the Pharmaceutical Norm
The underlying principle driving these startups is to present individuals with a practical alternative to traditional pharmaceutical interventions.
A secondary goal is to capture market share from established drug companies.
A Holistic Support System
Mojo’s platform addresses a wide range of issues impacting men and connected to their sexual health.
Its digital programs extend beyond erectile dysfunction to encompass concerns like pornography addiction and generalized anxiety.
This comprehensive approach could serve as an effective entry point, encouraging men to explore underlying psychological issues by accessing supportive services.
Men often present a challenge when it comes to seeking therapy, but erectile dysfunction can be a significant motivator for those hesitant to engage in traditional mental healthcare.
Subscription Details and Features
Mojo’s quarterly subscription costs £49/$68 and grants access to professional resources described as “unobtainable for most.”
The app is also positioned as a “virtual coach,” with the aim of empowering men to regain their sexual function and enjoy fulfilling sex lives without relying solely on medication.
The digital support package encompasses video courses and exercises, therapeutic podcasts and guided meditations, and live events.
These events provide opportunities to interact directly with Mojo’s panel of sexual health experts and connect with a community of fellow app users.
A dedicated community environment helps to diminish the stigma often associated with discussing sensitive health matters, as users can find solidarity with others facing similar challenges.
Growth and Funding
Founded in 2019, the startup reports having acquired “close to” 50,000 users across 36 countries.
Today, Mojo is announcing a new round of seed funding to accelerate its expansion.
The £3.25 million ($4.4 million) investment is jointly led by London-based early-stage fund Kindred Capital and Octopus Ventures.
Notable angel investors participating in the round include prominent figures in the European startup ecosystem, such as Tom Blomfield (Monzo), Julien Callede (Made.com), Ian Hogarth (SongKick), Freddy Macnamara (Cuvva), Alex Rose (Let’s Do This), and Errol Damelin (Wonga).
Kamran Adle, a health investor at Octopus Ventures, commented on the funding.
Maria Palma, general partner at Kindred, also shared her perspective on the investment.
