Miro 2.5: Faster Performance for Windows, Mac & Linux

Discovering Miro 2.5: A Streamlined Media Experience
For those seeking a no-cost and user-friendly desktop application to manage online audio and video, the latest iteration of Miro warrants consideration. Significant enhancements have been implemented since our last review, which occurred almost a year prior.
Installation and Initial Setup
During the installation process, users can opt for either a simplified 'Easy' installation or a 'Custom' installation. The primary distinction lies in the ability to selectively associate file types with Miro during a custom install.
Upon completion of the installation, a First Time Setup Wizard guides you through configuring video downloads and content preferences.
Enhanced User Interface and Playback
Users familiar with earlier versions will immediately notice a more polished user interface, characterized by significantly faster loading times.
The video player itself boasts a refined aesthetic and offers convenient pop-in or pop-out viewing options.
Content Downloading Capabilities
Miro facilitates the downloading of videos from platforms like YouTube, torrents, music blogs, and other video download sources. To enable YouTube downloads, a new site link must first be created within the sidebar by selecting 'Sidebar' and then 'New Site'.
Simply enter the YouTube URL and click 'OK'.
Once added to the sidebar, a 'Download this video' button will appear at the top of the browser when viewing YouTube videos.
New Features and Overall Improvements
This latest version of Miro demonstrates increased speed, expanded content download support, and the introduction of a dedicated audio podcast category.
While not without its imperfections, version 2.5 represents a substantial upgrade over its predecessors and is certainly worth exploring. Miro is a cross-platform application compatible with Windows, OS X, Ubuntu, and other Linux distributions.
