Microsoft Edge Price Comparison: Find the Best Deals

Now that its Edge browser has achieved a stable release, Microsoft is concentrating its efforts on developing features that set its Chromium-based browser apart from its competitors.
With the holiday shopping season rapidly approaching – although its exact form this year remains uncertain – it’s fitting that one of the initial new features the company is unveiling is a price comparison tool integrated within its “Collections” bookmarking service. This expansion was a foreseeable progression, and it’s encouraging to see Microsoft enhancing the functionality of this feature.
Edge is also receiving the full release of its integration with Pinterest and Collections, alongside a new tool for capturing web content screenshots, enhanced PDF capabilities, and an update to its Teleparty extension, which allows users to stream TV shows together and chat within the browser’s sidebar.
Furthermore, users can now initiate free video conferences with friends, family, or colleagues directly from the browser, leveraging integration with Microsoft’s Meet Now service. These video chats can accommodate up to 50 participants, with options for screen sharing and session recording. This functionality is initially launching in Edge, with plans to extend it to Outlook on the web and the Windows 10 taskbar in the coming weeks.

“We’ve discussed how Collections is a valuable tool for anyone engaged in research – whether for educational, professional, or shopping purposes,” explained Divya Kumar, Microsoft’s Director of Product Management for its browser and search tools. “We’ve begun to focus on providing users with the information they need when they save items to Collections. This price comparison feature felt like a logical and natural next step for us.”
When Edge – utilizing Microsoft Bing’s existing price comparison technology – identifies a product page you’ve saved, such as from Amazon or Best Buy, it will present an option to compare prices directly within the browser’s toolbar. The team’s next objective is to implement price change alerts, a feature Kumar confirms is currently in development, along with other enhancements that are not yet ready for public disclosure.
Microsoft clarifies that it does not receive any affiliate commissions from purchases made through links within Collections.
Regarding shopping, the company is also officially launching its Bing Rebates cashback program, moving it out of its beta phase (following the discontinuation of a similar program previously). The program includes partnerships with retailers like Walmart, Expedia, Walgreens, and Nvidia (although Nvidia currently offers a cashback rate of only 0.5%). This initiative may encourage greater use of Bing, but participation requires enrollment in the Microsoft Rewards program.
“Rebates are an important component of our strategy to deliver smarter shopping experiences within the browser,” stated Kumar.
Additionally, through the Give with Bing program, users can now utilize their Microsoft Rewards points to make donations to charitable organizations, and Microsoft will match these donations until the end of the year. This program is currently available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain.
For professionals who frequently work online and capture screenshots, the updated screenshotting tool is a noteworthy improvement. Edge previously allowed screenshots of visible content, but now users can also capture content further down the page and save or share it directly from the browser.
