Calm Launches New Family Subscription Plan

The widely-used meditation application, Calm, has announced the release of a new ‘Premium Family’ subscription option. This plan allows for the inclusion of up to six individual accounts under a single subscription.

Pricing and Availability

The Calm Premium Family plan is currently available worldwide at a cost of $99.99 annually. For comparison, an individual premium subscription to Calm is priced at $69.99 per year.

Personalized User Experience

Each member within the family plan receives a dedicated, personal account. This allows for individual tracking of progress and the celebration of personal achievements.

Users can also curate their own selections of preferred meditations and sleep stories. Notably, Calm specifies that family members are not required to reside at the same address to participate in the plan.

Seamless Transition for Existing Users

Existing Calm subscribers can upgrade to the Premium Family plan without any disruption to their existing data. Saved favorites, downloaded content, and session history will all be preserved.

Each family member will utilize their own unique email address and password for account access. Calm emphasizes that personal data, including session history and statistics, remains private and is not shared between family plan members.

The Premium Family subscription provides full access to Calm’s extensive content library. This includes a wide range of resources designed to promote relaxation and well-being.

However, Headspace’s family plan has a residency requirement, necessitating all members to provide the same physical address during registration. The Headspace family plan grants access to their complete content library, including meditations on relationships and mindfulness exercises for families.

Growth and Investment

Calm, like many meditation apps, has experienced significant growth during the recent pandemic. The company secured $75 million in Series C funding last year, resulting in a valuation of $2 billion.

Lightspeed Venture Partners spearheaded the funding round, with additional investment from Insight, TPG, and Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce and owner of Slack.
