Maze Raises $15M to Enhance User Testing Platform

Maze Secures $15 Million in Series A Funding
Maze has successfully completed a $15 million Series A funding round, spearheaded by Emergence Capital. The platform facilitates scalable user testing, enabling businesses to gather valuable feedback prior to implementing design modifications or evaluating new copy variations.
The Challenges of Rolling Out Changes
When managing a large user base, deploying changes without prior testing can be risky. Some organizations employ A/B testing on limited user segments, coupled with custom forms and polls for feedback.
However, this approach often necessitates coding expertise and introduces complexities into the development process. Alternatively, some companies rely heavily on individual, one-on-one conversations with customers, which is a time-consuming endeavor.
How Maze Simplifies User Testing
Maze streamlines the testing process by integrating with popular design tools such as Figma, InVision, Adobe XD, Marvel, and Sketch. Users can initiate new tests directly from their projects within these applications.
Through a web browser interface, testers can be guided through specific tasks within an application, provided with contextual information, and prompted with concise questions at the test's conclusion.
A unique link is then generated for subsequent testing campaigns. The platform supports testing with hundreds or even thousands of users, delivering comprehensive reports detailing success rates, user drop-off points, and responses to questions and polls.
Testing Concepts Beyond Designs
Maze now extends its capabilities to encompass concept testing, even in the absence of a fully developed design. This allows for early-stage validation of ideas and product directions.
The core objective of Maze is to empower product designers and managers. They can take ownership of the product roadmap, supported by concrete data and insights.
As a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, Maze fosters collaboration on user tests, making it easier for organizations to embrace a design-centric approach.
Investment Details and Future Growth
In addition to Emergence Capital, Jay Simons and existing investors – Amplify Partners, Partech, and Seedcamp – also participated in this funding round. The company intends to utilize the funds to expand its team.
Impressive Growth Metrics
Over the past year, Maze has experienced a remarkable 600% increase in monthly recurring revenue. Currently, the company generates $1.5 million in annual recurring revenue.
Maze’s platform is now utilized by 40,000 companies, and over one million tests have been completed by users. Notable customers include GE, Samsung, Vodafone, Braze, and FairMoney.
