Speed Up XP Menu Loading - Tips & Tricks

Accelerating Start Menu Display in Windows
A noticeable lag can sometimes occur when initiating the Start Menu. This delay can be minimized through a straightforward modification within the Windows Registry.
Accessing the Registry Editor
To begin, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Start key and typing "regedit". Subsequently, click "OK" to launch the Registry Editor.
Navigating to the Relevant Registry Key
Within the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
Expanding the "Desktop" key in the left pane will reveal several values. Scroll down until you locate "MenuShowDisplay".
Modifying the MenuShowDisplay Value
Double-click the "MenuShowDisplay" value to open its properties.
Change the "Value data" from its default setting of 400 to 0 (zero). Confirm the change by clicking "OK".
Completing the Process
Close the Registry Editor after saving the modification.
A significant improvement in the Start Menu's responsiveness should now be apparent. This technique is also applicable to Vista, though the specific steps differ.
This adjustment effectively reduces the time required for the Start Menu to appear, enhancing the overall user experience.
